„KLAIPEDA ARCHITECTURE 2016" – AT KCCC EXHIBITION HALL

On the 23rd of June, Friday, at 5 p.m. an exhibition and a cycle of events „Klaipėda architecture 2016“ organized by The Architects Association of Klaipeda’s County will be presented at the Exhibition Hall of Klaipėda Culture Communication Center (KCCC) (Didžioji Vandens st. 2, Klaipėda).

The first part of the exhibition is an annual review of architects works grouped into the themes - architectural competitions, building and urban design projects and built architectural projects, academic projects.

Architectural design projects for Klaipėda city, also projects our city architects into other Lithuanian cities, awarded in the national architectural competitions exhibited there.

Special exhibition part prepared by architect Petras Džervus is named The saddest architecture: Klaipėda. Districts of mass residental housing buildings is the natural environment in post-socialist countries. It is the normal for the residents there is not any narrative in the public place, reflecting the poverty of such environment. The aim of the exhibition to reveal the urban dehumanization load of mass building architecture for the society.

Visitor is introducing to the refinements of “cataloged” design of this period, so he can interpret “progressive construction” myth in his own way, to look at the predominant urban landscape form the new point of view.

Exposition consist of schemes, design drawings of mass building areas in the different cities of Lithuania, also photos and the model of such districts in Klaipėda city.

The aim of the exposition – to see the usual environment in another way.
