A PROJECT DEDICATED TO SOUND ARTISTS‘ FRIENDSHIP – AT EXHIBITION HALL
On the 14th of May (Saturday) at 6 p.m. Arma Agharta (Lithuania) and Holzkopf (Canada), the artists of experimental electronic and electroacoustic music, will present their creative work at the Exhibition Hall of Klaipėda Culture Communication Center (KCCC) (Didžioji Vandens st. 2, Klaipėda).
With this concert tour around Lithuania artists want to give a sense to their 10 years anniversary. Fans of electronic music will be able to familiarize with Jacob Hardy‘s (Holzkopf) and Armantas Gečiauskas‘ (Arma Agharta) projects not only in Klaipėda, but also in Nida, Kėdainiai, Kaunas and Vilnius.
Arma Agharta‘s sound performances spread in a wide territory between wild outbursts of chaotic noise, hypnotic psychodelic rituals or dadaistic game. Although his sound created by live analogue means technically can be assigned to „lo-fi“, „noise“ styles, actually much more hardly definable elements lie in it. One of especially impellent Arma‘s performance highlights is an absurd humor, that hustle the listener into the space of infantile subconsciousness through strange body movements, spontaneous improvisations and voice disembodied from the meaning and changing into pointless glossolalia.
Arma is also one of the most traveling Lithuanian sound artists. Since 2007 he performed more than 250 performances in North America, many European countries, Russia, Ukraine, participated in plenty Lithuanian festivals and abroad. From this mobility both new influences appreciable after every intensive tour and openness to joint projects of various aesthetics with other scene creators of improvised music is born.
During the tour around Lithuania a friend from Canada Jacob Hardy accompanies Armantas Gečiauskas. Holzkopf mixes random sounds, layers them into tuneful walls of noise by adding bass lines of „sci fi“ stylistics. All of this is combined into the industrial electronics affected by gospel music. The main musician‘s instruments are cassette players, samplers and voice.
Holzkopf‘s list of concert tours is none the less impressive so as the participation in events together with Merzbow, DJ Olive, William Hooker, Venetian Snares, John Oswald, Knurl, Alan Moore, Richard Bishop, Scanner, Chris Corsano, Keiji Haino, Emil Beaulieau, Botborg, Sam Shalabi, Foxdye and many other performers.
Jacob Hardy performs under bridges, in bars, galleries, derelict premises or yards during his tourist-concert travels in Europe, Canada, USA, Japan and Mexico. „Journeys are the essential part of my life and my music“ – says the performer.
