Annemarie Blohm 2015 08 02 – 09 02 / exchange program with Ahrenshoop Künstlerhaus Lukas (Germany)
Annemarie Blohm (born 1984)
Annemarie Blohm, a German artist that takes part in the Artist-in-residence program as well as participating in the project “Travel Agency” at KCCC. Annemarie Blohm spent 1 month in Klaipeda. This artist exchange is realized in collaboration with Ahrenshoop Künstlerhaus Lukas.
Her project “The third time” is focusing on observing ways that are motivated different than in daily life. A lot of people are present in the city in summer, they want to enjoy the popular beach. Because a ferry is connecting the city and the beach, the streets in front of the ferry are mostly densely packed. The project looks for differences in the way people move and see each other when they have time to look around themselves, when the street they take is not already set. The gaze and the directions people share is the focus of the project.
The exhibition “The third time” is open from 28th August until 25th September.
Annemarie Blohm has studied art at the University of art, Braunschweig, Germany from 2005-2012 (with Heinz
Günther Prager, Raimund Kummer, Corinna Schnitt). She lives and works in Berlin.
Her work is dealing with the coherence of human movement and systematic observation. A combination of staging and contingency are basics of that system. The work is motivated through a fascination for patterns in our natural environment. So, in one way there is a mathematic attempt to her work, which is disarranged by the natural coincidence of our environment and the freedom or permanent possibility of re-deciding steps and directions.
The results of these observations are photographs and videos, which could be described as strange appearances of orderliness. However they are more carefully assorted to bring social clichés to a top and question it through an ironical touch.
