AT THE KCCC EXHIBITION HALL – “WEST WINDS ‘18”
An exhibition of the artists of the Lithuanian Artists’ Association, Klaipėda Branch, “West Winds ‘18”, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the restoration of the state of Lithuania is going to be opened at KCCC Exhibition Hall (Didžioji Vandens str. 2, Klaipėda) on Friday, the 3rd of August, 2018, at 5 PM.
The exhibition of the artists of LAA Klaipėda Branch “West Winds ‘18” is being held this year in the Exhibition Hall of Klaipėda Culture Communication Centre already for the seventh time, and it is a highly important event for the community of Klaipėda artists, who are celebrating the 45th anniversary this year. The Lithuanian Artists’ Association, Klaipėda Branch, includes 115 members from Klaipėda and all the Western Lithuania: Palanga, Neringa, Kretinga, Mosėdis, Telšiai and other cities.
In celebrating the 100th anniversary of the restoration of the state of Lithuania the artists of LAA Klaipėda Branch dedicate the exhibition “West Winds ‘18” to this most significant event of our country. The purpose of the exhibition is to refer and to encourage the artists to represent their works through the historical/cultural/artistic expressions. This exhibition creates the opportunities for the spreading of the professional creative works of the artists of Lithuanian Artists’ Association, Klaipėda Branch, of various genres – painting, sculpture, graphics and applied arts – and the maintenance of the continuation of the fostering of the traditions of identification, identity, culture and art.
Non-coincidentally chosen theme allows the friendly competing artists to ponder on the content of the centennial historical and cultural memory of the country as well as the interpretations of the number “100” – as a time interval, as a unit of measurement – expressed in the most attractive artistic form for the artists – classical manner, modern installation, and etc.
Traditional “West Winds” – not only a kind of report of the artists to the society but also a review exhibition, indicating the processes of contemporary art and the situation of the visual arts of the Western Lithuania region. This exhibition demonstrates huge creative potential of the artists, creating their work in Klaipėda region. All of the presented works are new and have been created in the last two years. “West Winds” is a perfect opportunity for the artists to present their new works and to see what their colleagues live by, and for the society – to familiarise with the newest works of already favourite artists of our region, and to find some new young and talented artists.
