„Digital Cello”. David Fernández
The International Klaipėda Cello Festival will continue even after its official end, taking place in one of the exhibition halls at the Klaipėda Culture Communication Center, which will transform into a mysterious 3D and virtual reality space from May 10 to 25.

It can be experienced both with and without virtual reality (VR) headsets.
A brief overview of the rules and the registration form can be found at the bottom of this text.
Using virtual reality headsets, you will step into an immersive digital environment where a never-before-seen cello takes on new forms and meanings. In a world increasingly dominated by digital processes, this exhibition explores the intersection between the handcrafted wooden instrument — embodying centuries of tradition — and modern technologies.
Berlin-based cellist and multimedia artist David Fernández uses this work to reveal the contradictions we face in a rapidly changing world. His playful yet provocative vision transforms the cello into an abstraction, a self-contained universe, and a powerful symbol of our humanity, which is being reshaped by the digital revolution. Will this digital transformation also change our very essence?
David Fernández (born in 1976, Spain) is a Berlin-based cellist, stage director, and multimedia artist known for his bold interpretations of classical music. He studied dance, acting, and cello in Spain, and his works combine movement, music, and cutting-edge technology to create pieces that transcend traditional boundaries. His creative range includes symphonic works (performed at the Berlin Philharmonic, Elbphilharmonie, Alte Oper Frankfurt, and more), solo improvisations, and multimedia installations — all while maintaining a strong connection to classical music. Fernández has created over twenty-five stage productions and completed numerous commissions that blend technical innovation with radical artistic vision. His theatrical works have been highly praised by the Spanish press.
Since 2011, Fernández has been an integral part of Berlin’s classical music scene. Through his solo project Ecce Cello and as a founder of the orchestra Stegreif Orchester, he continues to explore new ways of interpreting and performing classical music.
