„KITI 7“ PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT – AT KCCC EXHIBITION HALL

On Friday, November 18, at 6 p.m., at KCCC Exhibition Hall (Didžioji Vandens st. 2, Klaipėda) Klaipėda department of Lithuanian Photographers Union will present an ongoing photography project KITI 7 and „Photobook show“ photography self-publishing books collection from the Great Britain.

The main purpose of KITI photography project, arranged in the port city for the seventh year in a row, is to unite the authors, working in the field of photography, give them opportunity to present themselves in exhibition space and to attract attention to their art, as well as stimulate integration into already formed artistic area of Lithuanian photography this way.

On the other hand, by means of this project it is aimed to provoke the discussion of the conception of photography, paying attention to photography tendencies in Lithuania, as well as in foreign countries.

The purpose of KITI 7 project stays the same – it keeps presenting new names and authors‘ unseen pieces of art. This year five artists, who finished photography studies abroad, take part in the exhibition: Paulius Butkus (University of Brighton), Valus Sonov (Newport University), Edita Kalesinskaitė (University of Brighton), Kotryna Ula (Glasgow School of Art) and Geistė Marija Kinčinaitytė (University of London). The young photographers present four photography projects and one video installation.

„Photobook show“ project from the Great Britain is also presented at KITI 7 exhibition. For the first time in Lithuania a visiting organization provided a selected collection of self-publishing photography books from its archive especially for this exhibition.

Curators of the project: Paulius Butkus and Valus Sonov, coordinator – Klaipėda department of Lithuanian Photographers Unit. The project is partly sponsored by Lithuanian Council for Culture, partner – Klaipėda Culture Communication Centre.
