MULTI-LAYER PAINTING OF IRMA LEŠČINSKAITĖ AT KCCC EXHIBITION HALL
An exhibition of the painter Irma Leščinskaitė “Painting. Modern Technologies” will be opened at KCCC Exhibition Hall (Didžioji Vandens str. 2, Klaipėda) on Friday, the 15th of September, 2017, at 6 PM.
When Irma Leščinskaitė, who has been especially concentrated on the abstract painting for more than two decades, was asked to give reasons for her choice, she stated that this form of painting is as reflective as contemporary culture, purposefully and deliberately interpreting previous epochs. I. Leščinskaitė gets inspiration for new creative ideas mostly from the reflection of painting works of contemporary artists, the books she has read, social environment, musical works, and the whole cultural context allowing the stratification of past as well as future in painting. It is no coincidence that her contemporary painting reminds of a conceptual record of the artist’s workshop or a creative route by which the artist patiently leads the audience through painting layers, real and virtual forms.
In the exhibition the author presents four painting cycles created using different methods (audio installation, augmented reality, deep scan, marker and video projection), and each work remains a separated independent space. Recently, a turn towards certain imaging schemes, a shift from abstract expressionism to pictorial narrative created using media, becomes apparent in the works of the artist. If there are questions regarding the classical nature of panting and its options, its status in the present century based on different values, we probably would not be wrong in saying that the essence of painting lies in the narrative – conceptual level. Forms of photographic vision and virtual simulation, integrated into the traditional painting, embody and state different cultural and social cognitive problems than emotional, subconscious and expressive expression. With images existing only as long as they are under observation, following each other in a certain order, and with form becoming the shapes of sound, the potential of colour manipulation and composition means, providing the painting with interactive design dimension, is revealed to the audience. About the author
Irma Leščinskaitė in 1998 acquired a Master’s degree in painting at Vilnius Academy of Arts; after post-academic art studies at Vilnius Academy of Arts, in 2007, she was granted a qualification degree of an art licensee in the field of fine arts. She has been a member of Lithuanian Artists’ Association since 2001; in 2011 she was granted a status of art creator.
The artist has been participating in Lithuanian and foreign exhibiting activities since 1990; has held 25 personal exhibitions, has participated in 105 group painting exhibitions and projects in Lithuania, Austria, Italy, Russia, Ukraine, Germany, Denmark, Poland, Sweden, Finland, Latvia, USA and etc. I. Leščinskaitė is curator of a great number of artistic projects.
