Remigijus Treigys’s retrospective exhibition “Territories: photographs 1987 – 2015”
Klaipėda Culture Communication Center (KCCC) presents the first Remigijus Treigys’s retrospective exhibition “Territories: photographs 1987 – 2015” and the album “Remigijus Treigys. Photographs“.
Photo-artist Remigijus Treigys has been participating in exhibitions since 1986. His works were exhibited in many personal and group exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad, but the exhibition “Territories: Photographs 1987-2015”, presented at KCCC Exhibition Hall, is the first one, that is retrospective and reviews all the artist’s creative field from 1987 to 2015.
„I wonder about the uncertainty of where the light comes from and moves through the surface of photographed object, sometimes destroying the shape itself. Scratches, dots, lines, tinting – it’s like a sound recording of a photograph, which provides an image with additional information. I never name a specific place in photographs…” – said Remigijus Treigys, when asked to shortly describe the essence of his creation.
“Almost empty landscape, in which – just barely visible line between the sea, sky, sand; lonely building and flat landscape’s space, vanishing in the mist; dead windows’ caverns in the wall of a dark building; objects, covered or hidden in the dark, in the twilight of an empty room; and the universe of white rubbish, dust and scratches, that emphasize the calmness and darkness of an image even more – these are the distinctive marks of Remigijus Treigys photographs. Any object from his point of view, either simple, insignificant or casual becomes an instrument of self-knowledge and heart-searching of subsistence, and this kind of activity requires a little bit more time than one photograph’s moment”, – art critic Agnė Narušytė talks about photo-artist’s creative work.
