Robert Suszko

Robert Suszko a.k.a. Dat Rayon is taking part in sound art residence and festival “Sound Around” (sound art labs/workshops, residencies, closing festival).

Road leading to nowhere, abandoned gas stations, battered, abandoned car on the roadside, mechanical workshops, a small, forgotten town. The world seen from inside of a moving vehicle – landscapes from memory in the form of faded cliches of American films. Dat Rayon creates music for this non-existent road movie combining disturbing ambient spaces with minimal and dub music. Who is the author of these compositions? We know only that he manifested himself at the beginning of 2012, and that his inspiration is the American automobile design of the 60’s and 70’s.

Where does it come from? Where are you going? You’ll find out if you go together with him…

Robert Suszko – electronic musician and video artist working on the Polish scene since the mid 90’s. He experimented with many musical genres and recorded several albums under various names and in various musical groups. Founder of two independent record labels: Salut Records and Nasiono

“Sound around” project proposes a series of residencies for sound artists and organization of 3 experimental music festivals in Kaliningrad, Klaipeda and Gdansk. The project aims at multilateral exchange of experiences, practices and technologies between sound artists from Poland, Lithuania and Russia. Exploration of sound landscapes of 3 cities, Gdansk-Kaliningrad-Klaipeda, will become the basis of communication between the artists and will include creation of sound-cards, multimedia installations and experimental music concerts. Within the framework of the project there will be mutual visit exchanges for collection of the material and organization of the workshops, lectures and demo concerts. The closing final festival will consist of concert, exhibition and theoretical parts. Also, it is planned to produce project documentation in a form of a CD or a vinyl.

Sound Art residence and festival “Sound Around” is a part of the project «Close Stranger: promoting mutual understanding between population of Gdansk, Kaliningrad and Klaipeda through facilitation of exchange in the field of contemporary arts and culture».
