„THE EMPEROR OF PAINT“: AURIMAS EIDUKAITIS’ PAINTING EXHIBITION

On the 2nd of August, 2019, on friday, at 6 pm at KCCC Exhibition Hall (Didžioji Vandens st. 2, Klaipėda), Aurimas Eidukaitis’ painting exhibition „The Emperor of Paint“ is opening.

The exhibition of painter from Klaipėda Aurimas Eidukaitis is presented by Eglės Gallery from Kaunas, which supervises the artist’s activities. According to the head of the gallery, art critic Eglė Mickutė, A. Eidukaitis’ painting starts with thinking, when relying only on visual senses is not enough. In order to understand this painter’s work, one has to dive into a different reality. Certainly, this is a fictional world made up of the author’s life experiences, memories, the environment around him, existing and imaginary objects. In the artist’s works we see mosaic of entire epochs – ancient civilizations, Renaissance, Baroque – created from various details. The painter has well mastered the realistic style and is impressed by the achievements of the ancient masters, yet he pictures the images, that are born today in the subconscious, on the surface of the canvas. Dreams and fragments of fantasy create plots where the origin of the rational mind is not valid. It is the influence of surrealism. It seems that stagnant time submerges you into philosophical reflections.

The basis of the artist’s paintings is an idea that asks the viewer various questions and forces him to analyze the information presented. The history of classical art, the wisdom and experience of the great masters is used for this. It is commendable that complex composition maintains the balance and the amount of details does not hinder professional work. A. Eidukaitis is like a conductor and all colors obey his baton. The whole of the picture is composed of many elements, the multi-layer is visible, the play of shadows and light is very important. Rich range of colours, a common desire to escape usual rules and contexts: from a palette, that is moderately placed and based on academic principles to limiting combinations. It gives a strong sense of a different reality, but does not destroy the whole of the picture.

A. Eidukaitis, with the help of his creative work, considers the most important problems of life: he talks about the flow of time, the changing world, endangered civilizations, social difference. Often modern plot is placed in interiors of the past, which are rich in theatrical properties and architectural details of various eras. The comparison of the present and the past, the antithesis of an irrational and real origin, complex arrangement and rich colour palette – such a difficult but interesting artist’s painting path. It is a daring, peculiar and intellectual creative work that leaves no one indifferent. Rarely encountered and unexpected.

Aurimas Eidukaitis (b. 1982) belongs to the generation of young painters. In 2006 he finished Art studies at Šiauliai University. In 2014 – the first author’s exhibition. Since 2015 – member of Lithuanian Artists’ Association. He is a free artist who patiently and persistently creates his own collection of paintings.
