“THE WESTERN WINDS ’20: THE (IN)DEPENDANT”
EXHIBITION OF THE LAA KLAIPĖDA DIVISION
An exhibition of the artists of Lithuanian Artists’ Association Klaipėda Division “The Western Winds ’20: The (In)Dependant” dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the restoration of independence of Lithuania will be opened at the KCCC Exhibition Hall (Didžioji Vandens str. 2, Klaipėda) on the 24th of July, 2020, Friday, at 5 PM.
This year, the exhibition of the artists of Lithuanian Artists’ Association (LAA) Klaipėda Division “The Western Winds ’20: The (In)Dependant” is held for the eight time at the Klaipėda Culture Communications Centre (KCCC) Exhibition Hall and is a significant event to the development of the culture of visual arts of Klaipėda. LAA Klaipėda Division unites 119 members from Klaipėda and the whole western Lithuania: Palanga, Neringa, Kretinga, Mosėdis, Telšiai and other cities.
In 2020, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the restoration of independence of Lithuania, the LAA Klaipėda Division dedicates the exhibition “The Western Winds ’20: The (In)Dependant” to one of the most relevant events to our state and also takes an ironic approach towards belonging to the artists’ or any kind of other union and how this reflects on the artists – one of the most individual and original group of people. Should we, in these modern times, thinking of being as free as ever and unrestrained, speak of belonging to someone, whatever it may be: an organisation, a social group, gatherings of professionals or even an ethnic group?
This exhibit creates the conditions for the expression of the professional artworks of the artists of various genres (painting, sculpture, graphics, interdisciplinary and applied arts) of the Lithuanian Artists’ Association Klaipėda Division – strengthening their sameness, the importance of identity, the nurturing of cultural and art traditions. We invite you to take part in the grand celebration of the 30th anniversary of the restoration of independence of Lithuania, where the independent artists, working in the independent Lithuania, represent our regional nature in a professional manner in the artistic context of the whole of Lithuania and the world.
