Žaneta Jasaitytė-Bessonova. Mediation Relationship: My Body Within You
An experimental exhibition “Mediation Relationship: My Body Within You” of Žaneta Jasaitytė-Bessonova will be opened at Klaipėda Culture Communication Centre Exhibition Hall (Didžioji Vandens str. 2, Klaipėda) on Friday, 18th of August, 2017, at 6 PM.
The style and graphics of the artist Žaneta Jasaitytė-Bessonova are recognizable from afar. The colour, idea and brightness – it is more suitable for a poster. Perhaps this is the reason why Žaneta finally felt ready for an experimental exhibition, where the pictures and their history become objects. The author herself calls this exhibition experimental because for a long time until now she was more into graphical abstractions. Now the author creates artworks which literally “draw” you in. It is quite possible to identify it as soft textile or even social plastics chosen by the author. However, even though textile material is dominant in the artist’s complex installation, talking only about textile would be trite.
Yet, maybe it is receptive sculpture? Ingenious sculpture? This time Žaneta took to a rather complex format: a hybrid of outside and inside. One could say that using contemporary art language she allows the audience walking inside of the womb and enables them to come into contact with primordial reflexes; and this gives rise to more interpretations of the selected theme. The objects themselves embrace you, and kinetic constructions give opportunity to immerse yourself into the object where tactile connection – the relationship between a material and the audience – is extremely important.
While creating a new cycle the author analyses philosophical and phenomenological meanings of phenomena – even the essence of the human birth. Therefore, this exhibition is as if spatially fragmented into various different cognitive levels: for a child as well as for an adult. There are very few items in the exhibition and a lot of space, including space for your interpretation. The artist is as though setting an objective for herself: to get rid of items as the essence of creative expression, and to learn to leave some space. It is extremely difficult to leave empty interior; let‘s say, a white wall and a single piece of art – people like to see plenty of everything, and beauty is still often regarded as abundance. Yet, the less you have, the more freedom you feel.
One of the tasks of this project is the establishment of categories and classification, focusing towards nowadays creative tendencies and characteristics. The works of Žaneta are currently acquiring more and more decorativeness and external ornamentation, and hence the social position. Irony, cynicism, distinctiveness – these are the necessary conditions revealing that laughter through tears as well as excellent sincerity is the reason and the means to break the rules. Expressiveness is tactics, expressionism – a strategy.
The conceptual creativity of Ž. Jasaitytė-Bessonova is complex for its universality; in most cases the artist is trying to encompass a wide range of creative definitions and categories, as if being inside of them, between them and behind them. The target of the author is just delightful – a clear focus towards a single theme, single element and single segment.
Residents of different age and various social groups can participate in the project “Mediation Relationship: My Body Within You”. The important aspect is that the visitors of the exhibition will have an opportunity to be fully involved in the active creative (self)educational activities, interpret and develop the competencies of communication, cognition and creativity. In other words, the visitor will be given an opportunity to become an active participant of the art process, in a way even a creator, in this universal creative space.
